The entire Rudyland staff is thrilled to announce that The Parking Lot Movie will have its world premiere this Sunday 3/14 (5PM) at the Alamo Ritz in Austin, TX as part of the South by Southwest Film Festival. Check out The PLM site for more info on the film.

The Parking Lot Movie Soundtrack features my score as well as tracks from Colin Langenus (ex-USA Is A Monster) TeenBeat sensations True Love Always, parking lot attendant Mark Shotinger, and the debut of attendant/rhyme spittin trio Rikka Rikka. After blowing away Charlottesville, VA with their rowdy brand of rock n roll hi-jinks, The Vitamen relocated to NYC/Hoboken, NJ as a Whitney-less power trio. (as documented on the Metal Party '97" demo.)

In less than a year, the band was down to just Ben and Sam, and in a desperate attempt to hang on to their dilapidated rehearsal room they dubbed themselves the Little Lovers (during an intense AC/DC phase) and got to work. The Little Lovers immediately switched their name to The Defenders after they plugged in and ripped this epic 12 minute cover of Manowar's "Defender."

This band truly fits Rudyland's virtual band model as it features an NC vocalist and a drummer that currently resides in Germany. These two have been holding it down since their days helming VA kult act Nudibranch.

"Melodia" was recorded at the famous Tool & Die Studios in Richmond, VA by Dave Branch, who many of you may remember as the genius behind the original Vitamen demo.

In February of 2004, the Petitioners produced their most deranged session ever in the form of the "Pumpin Problem" album. (recorded straight to handheld cassette recorder)

The title track is a cover of David Ball's "Thinkin Problem" and is sung from the perspective of Lou Ferigno, Franco Columbu, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the three principle characters from the "Pumping Iron" documentary.

Next up is the intergalactic epic "Pump Wars" , followed by a hyper charged rendition of Bobby Goldsboro's "Little Things" (as covered by Billy Gilman).

A unique line-up of the Vog showed up to a shoddy NYC rehearsal studio last week to rock material from the upcoming album. Marc and Sam were joined by Ben Sisario on drums and Jeremy Adelman on bass, and minidiscs were burned to a crisp. The band was in 'top form' as they tore through such future classics as Poolyard and Solar Energy (You're My Baby).

In between mixing Goth Jones' LP and consulting on various top secret government sanctioned sonic weaponry experiments, Virginia super producer Rob Evans is putting the finishing touches on "Magnetic Demonstration," the third album from Watts Passage. Tracks include: You're The Reason, Beat Me Up, Eat The Worm, You Used It, and Old Girlfriend.

The album offers a melodic power pop antidote to WP's signature tough as nails approach. When asked about the departure from their trademark sound, Rob replied "kiss my ass, you L.A. wannabe." Looking forward to hearing the fruits of our collaboration.

Cesar Chavez Day was celebrated last night by the Pico Youth and Family Center at Santa Monica's Virginia Avenue Park. The festivities included a special performance of "Si Se Puede" featuring members of the PYFC All Star and the Have Not Crew.

Sam Justice was also awarded a certificate from the PFYC for his "valuable contributions to the hip hop community."

One of Mazey's favorite spots to watch the sunset was at this Culver City overlook not far from our old offices on Jackson Ave. On his last trip to the West Coast Mazey jumped on the rock and roll bandwagon with this never before heard cover of Guns N Roses' "Paradise City." Allegedly 20 minutes long, this is all that remains of the original masters.

GJ Album Enters "Post Production"

Basic tracks have been completed for 12 new GJ songs. Currently replacing sounds with prerecorded instruments, digitally retuning any remaining sounds, removing unintentional 'disco-punk' flavors, and retracking drums using advanced 'finger drumming' techniques.

Rob Evans was superb to work with in the studio, particularly when tinkering with Joe Chicersmelli's rack of high end compressors (pictured). Before Joe's interns came and removed three tons of his gear, in the middle of our session, Rob was busy isolating stray GJ snare drums in the mix, which we shall be removing.

Long live the raw power of rock and roll!

After their recent gig where dozens of Dark Funeral fans showed up only to find these dorks onstage, Goth Jones has announced plans to enter the studio to record their fourth album, which remains untitled.

Tracking will begin this Friday at Sage and Sound Recording in Hollywood, and will be completed 36 hours later! The album shall be produced by studio wiz kid Rob Evans (Watts Passage, DMB).

Expect to be rocked severely by these dozen doozies: Blue Booth, All About G, Heartbeat, Bone Dry, Dying Stars, Knife Fight, Stone Cold, Repetition Man, Maintain, Basement, Woopsy Daisy, and Stewart the Dog.

Some press, just in time for the holidays! Get yourself a copy of the Petitioners vinyl only release and submit to their "ultra-heavy, power-chorded guitar rock!" Mark Suppanz says:

Formed in 1999 in Hoboken, NJ, The Petitioners' debut LP (available on vinyl only) is actually a seven-song compilation, selected from among the hundreds they recorded between 2000-2003. But if you didn't know better, you'd swear this was some vault find from the early '70s. Their ultra-heavy, power-chorded guitar rock brings to mind a ton of bands from then, including Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Grand Funk and MC5. (They include two covers: a slowed-up, twice-as-loud version of Roky Erickson's "Creature With the Atom Brain" and Manitoba's Wild Kingdom's "Speedball.") The lurching, more metal-leaning tracks might grow tiresome, but if they could put a whole album together with faster numbers like "Speedball" and the terrific, MC5-like powderkeg "Sweden," then we may have something.

Rita Burrita records "You Can't Tame"

Despite lacking their charismatic lead vocalist Shehzad, Rita Burrita found inspiration in a pile of used metal tapes (including Asphalt Ballet) to create this jaw dropping song. Fred acheived insane tone in the Rudyland amp booth, and Sam brought justice to lead vocals. But the unsung hero may just be Axl Erum. Here is the song. Here are the lyrics.
